About us
We started this because of a photo
A friend sent us a picture of her daughter asleep on the living room rug, wrapped in eight soft pink arms. It wasn't a professional shot. The lighting was bad. There was a half-drunk cup of tea in the corner of the frame.
We must have looked at it twenty times.
That's the thing nobody tells you about the early years — they're relentless, and they're over faster than anyone warns you. The days are long, the months are gone, and the moments you actually remember are almost never the ones you planned. They're the silly ones. The ones where someone was laughing at something ridiculous on the floor.
What we make
OctoChild makes things that get parents and their kids on the floor together.
Not toys that entertain a child while you do something else. Not clothes that look nice in a drawer. Things that create a moment — something that makes your child giggle, makes you reach for your phone, and makes the person you send it to reply immediately.
Our first product is a plush octopus suit. It has eight arms that spread out around your baby, it's soft enough to fall asleep in, and it turns an ordinary Tuesday on the carpet into something worth photographing. That's the whole brief. That's what we're looking for in everything we add.
What we believe
The good stuff is unplanned. You can't schedule a core memory. You can only create the conditions for one — and usually that means being silly, being present, and being on the floor.
Soft matters more than clever. Babies don't care about features. They care how something feels against their cheek. We start every product there.
A photo is a small act of love. Every picture you take is you saying this mattered, I want to keep this. We're just trying to give you more of those.
Who we are
We're a small team. We answer our own emails. If something arrives wrong, tell us and we'll fix it — no forms, no ticket numbers, no arguing with you about it.
We're not trying to be the biggest kids' brand in the world. We'd rather be the one that made your favourite photo.
Welcome to OctoChild. Get on the floor.
